P.E.
30-45 minutes per day
Monday
Warm up
Lay on the floor, keep your tummy close to the floor and crawl from the front door to the kitchen and back like a lizard.
Throwing and catching skills
Practise throwing and catching a tennis ball, rolled up sock or anything that is relatively round with yourself or a partner.
Challenge yourself by counting how many catches you can do in a row.
Try throwing the ball above your head and try and catch it near your head, chest and knees.
Which body part was the hardest to try and catch the ball at?
Tuesday
Warm up
Sit down on a chair and stand up, repeat 20 times.
Animal walk
Choose an animal and copy how this animal would move (hopping, crawling, jumping, running etc)
Warm up
Jog on the spot for 2 minutes.
Throwing and catching skills
Practise your underarm throwing to a target. You can choose any target e.g. a jumper on the floor or a chair.
How many other ways can you throw and catch?
Thursday
Warm up
If you have a ball, walk around the house and practise bouncing a ball and walking.
Rolling
Can you roll on the ground like a sausage without bumping into anything? Stretch your body as long as you can, now try rolling on the ground.
Make your own version of skittles. Find a ball and something in your house to use as skittles e.g. empty milk cartons. Stand about 3m back and roll your ball to knock over the milk cartons.
Try making it harder, by standing further back.
Friday
Warm up
If you have steps in your house, see if you can go up and down the steps without stopping for 3 mins. If you don’t have any steps, you can use a pillow, or a cushion.
Golf
Create 10 targets around your house using old t-shirts flattened on the ground. Fold a pair of socks into a ball and try to kick the socks so they land on the t-shirt.
Go around the course you have created. Make a note of how many kicks it took you to complete the course, then try the course again to see if you can beat your previous score.
Alternatively if your course was too easy, try to add some obstacles in front or near the targets.
You can use a pillow, chair, cardboard box as an obstacle to go around.

Music

Make your own musical instruments! Think about how we make percussion sounds in the music room – we hit things together, we shake things, we move one part of the instrument across another.
Some ideas on how to do this:
Activities with your instruments:
Art
60 minutes per week
Winter bird collage
Copying the picture above, draw a large egg shape the size of your paper and divide it with a crooked Y for the head and wing. Use your imagination to draw in a tail for your bird.
Draw in the foot, eye and beak.
Decorate with strips of paper from a magazine (choosing colours from different photographs), wool, fabric, buttons or anything else you can find.
Tearing carefully will give your paper a feathery effect. Use plenty of glue for sticking down.
Library
30 minutes per week
Read a story of your choice or listen to the story ‘Too Many Elephants in the House’ from Story Box Library. Click here
Parts of a book
Choose a book and point to all the parts of the book including the title of the story, the author’s name, the illustrator, the spine and the pages. Does your story have a blurb on the back?
